Womens Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling

Women’s Center for Legal Aid and Counselling (WCLAC), registered in 1991, is an NGO with Special Consultative status with the United Nation Economic and Social Council (UNECOSOC) whose mission is to promote social justice and equality through feminism. At the core of WCLAC’s work is promoting women’s rights in Palestine, with a particular emphasis in addressing gender-based violence in Palestinian society. Their programmes which include social counselling, protection services and providing legal aid, are designed to connect to, interact and empower Palestinian women to the standard of international human rights. WCLAC strives to enhance female citizenship development through transformative legal reform initiatives, advocacy and training programs. Their gender-focused mission applies inclusiveness between men and women and a human rights-based approach in attempt to address discriminatory social attitudes, violence, insecurity, exclusion and other forms of violations against Palestinian women.
